When Elizabeth Taylor passed of congestive heart failure on March 23rd, she left behind not just an estate, but a collection of tangible memories from her iconic 79-year life. Before being sold off at the New York City Christie’s Auction house, the actress’ collections of jewelry, fashion, accessories, memorabilia and art pieces will go on a world tour, beginning in September. Fans around the world will be able to visit Liz’s personal belongings in Paris, Los Angeles, Dubai, Moscow, London, Geneva, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.

The auctions will take place at an evening gala on December 13th, two bidding sessions on December 14th, and an online-only Christie’s LIVE sale throughout the 10-day exhibition. With her full estate valued between $500 million and $1billion, there is no telling what kind of revenues will be made.

Is she a ghost? Wearing these “invisible” shoes, your feet will blend into any environment making them appear non-existent.   Brazilian shoe designer, Andreia Chaves, designed triangular cut mirrors constructed together to form a sight heel bootie. When asked where the idea came from she responded with a reflection of her native city, “The fact that I grew up in a chaoic city like Sao Paulo, full of contrasts, being in contact with such diversity and constant exposure to different visual inputs, has inpired me in how I think and conceptualize my shoes.”

Famed by Anika Noni Rose at the 2007 Oscars, these overwhelmingly iced shoes were bound to go down in history and make cameo appearances in luxury news sources for years to come. Decked out with 30 carats of colorless brilliant-cut diamonds, the 1,420 stone pair of shoes carries a tag of $500,000.

From today 24th September, the online auction opens on the most iconic shoes in movie history – Dorothy’s ruby slippers. But these red slippers have been reinvented by the world’s top shoe designers to produce luxury footwear marking the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz; courtesy of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Swarovski Crystallised Elements. Nineteen of the greatest shoe designers were chosen to give their individual take on this piece of history, including Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Roger Vivier, Moschino and Alberta Ferreti. They have been up for display in a Soho store since 15th September, but now are available to purchase online as one-of-a-kind Hollywood memorabilia. Not only can you have the pleasure of owning a luxury collectors item, but all proceeds from the auction will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

nick kirkwoodGirls may want to keep those sexy new stilettos in their bags and walk to the club in flip flops this fall. 2009 shoots us into the future with architectural undertones and geometric shapes embedded into our shoes.

Nicholas Kirkwood perfectly projects this idea in his 2009 fall shoe collection. Harsh edged lines and organized shapes contrast the smooth arch of the foot and balance out the sexy mile-high stiletto heel.
