Resort staff are working around the clock to meet Diego Maradona’s high expectations and were asked to install two new top of the range bidet style toilets for his players. Their rooms had to be repainted white, no reason was given. The head chef was asked to ensure that there was a choice of 14 salads to accompany every meal followed by a choice of at least three desserts. Even the pool has had to be notched up a gear to ensure that it is maintained at a constant 32°C. And all this luxury is supposed to help Maradona and his team out wit their opponents? Perhaps – Argentina is second in favour to win the World Cup.

Annual MET Costume Gala 2010
Vogue powerhouse editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, hosted the annual MET Costume Institute Gala along side super women, Oprah Winfrey. The New York City Metropolitan Museum of Art was bursting at the seems with nearly every celebrity that comes to mind. Most importantly, they brought their A-game wardrobe picks to share with the rest of us common folk.
Among my top favorites was Anne Hathaway. Staying true to her classy, sophisticated style, she sported a whimsical Valentino gown that swayed and sparkled down the red carpet as she floated her way into the closed-door event.
With Gaga preparing for a performance inside the museum, she was unable to walk the red carpet, leaving the most outrageous and fashion-forward star award up for grabs. My pick? Katy Perry. Cute Circuit assembled the one shouldered, pale-pink and white gown with a scandalous slit framing her sculpted legs. Sounds simple enough, but then you turn the power on and neon flashing lights seep through the material and give this ball gown a completely new party life. Katy was glowing (pun intended) from head to toe.
As per usual, some played it safe in nude colored, sexy gowns. Not headline worthy, but still beautiful. Overall, the guests of the star-studded NYC event looked classy, sexy and ready to party. :)

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be taking over Manhattan February 11- 18. Designers, models, photographers and fans will be crowding around Bryant Park with excitement and one common love, fashion. Designers are nervous with anticipation of the reviews written almost immediately after the last model has strutted off the runway. Will their vision seep through into the minds of the drunk with power writers who hold infinite power over their careers? Will the chosen faces and bodies representing each garment be accepted as matched properly? Once described as “hangers walking down the runway” by Karl Lagerfeld, the models are pressured to be at their thinnest, have energy, sparkle and most importantly, put on an incredible, memorable show. Don’t trip! Tickets to the main tents at Bryant Park are coveted, exclusive and rather hard to come by. Celebrities, socialites and elite fashion executives are the general crowd encompassing the audience of the runway.
Photographers sit at the end of the runway, more than just snapping photos, they capture the essence of the collection and share it with the rest of the world, wishing that one day they too will be a part of the few magical moments of a runway show. Under this category, you will see hanging around the tents, tourists from all over the world, fashion students, and fans. Cameras in hand, rising at the crack of dawn, bundled up with gloves, scarfs and hot coco, these people are the heart of Bryant Park. Passion brings them loitering around the security infused tents with hopes of seeing any canvas bag holding accessories that might walk down the powerful, white catwalk. In this small square of Manhattan, during this particular week, a covered clothes rack is more than a clothes rack. It’s a secret only a small, exclusive society of people, sworn to secrecy, have had the privilege to preview. And in just hours, minutes, seconds, it will be exposed and become vulnerable to the scrutiny of the entire world. A picture of a covered clothes rack pushed by a man with crazy hair and black, skinny jeans means nothing. A picture of a covered clothes rack pushed by a man with crazy hair and black, skinny jeans up the steps of Bryant Park during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week is a dream about to be unveiled for the world to judge. Excited? I am.
