Dirk Bikkembergs transforms menswear with his new apartment-style, multi-level store located in Milan’s main fashion district, “quadrilatero d’oro”. Show casing his clothing in a pro-athlete’s apartment setting has attracted men looking for a more masculine approach to fashion. Though tight fitting, his clothing is formed from a typical athletic male’s body. Even his runway shows feature professional athletes rather than typical male models. With the largest football championship upon us, Bikkembergs has a chosen to theme his June 18th show, World Cup. Though widely successful in Europe, the designer has said he feels no need to break into the U.S. fashion market, “I know Americans are not it”.
