The famous Tanglewood Jazz Festival will be selling tickets to the public on 14 Febuary, however anticipation has led to the ticket hotline crashing and the Boston Symbony Orchestra website being overrun with record levels of traffic.

In a season that offers a rich array of artists and repertoire representing the best of the classical music world and beyond, the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s 2010 Tanglewood season will open on July 9 with BSO Music Director James Levine leading Mahler’s titanic Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, featuring soprano Layla Claire*, mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe* and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Maestro Levine, marking his sixth season as BSO Music Director, will lead eight Tanglewood programs, including a BSO concert performance of Mozart’s delightful comic opera The Abduction from the Seraglio (July 23), with a cast to include sopranos Lisette Oropesa and Ashley Emerson and bass Morris Robinson, and fully-staged Tanglewood Music Center performances of Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos (August 1 and 4).
