Luxury retailer and fashion brand Burberry has beaten its forecast and seen its sale leap by 12% over the last quarter which is more than 3% above expectations. In times of recession similar brands have reported little impact on sales however others including Escada faced collapse. Burberry is confident of future growth, but predicts a slower 2010-2011.

Is she a ghost? Wearing these “invisible” shoes, your feet will blend into any environment making them appear non-existent. Brazilian shoe designer, Andreia Chaves, designed triangular cut mirrors constructed together to form a sight heel bootie. When asked where the idea came from she responded with a reflection of her native city, “The fact that I grew up in a chaoic city like Sao Paulo, full of contrasts, being in contact with such diversity and constant exposure to different visual inputs, has inpired me in how I think and conceptualize my shoes.”

Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker is rumored to be designing a line for the Halston Heritage collection. The collection will be significantly less expensive than the main lines and will hopefully boost the company’s popularity and bring back the esteem Halston held in the 70s. Halston has yet to comment on any future business deals with Sarah, but will have an announcement by the end of the week.

For the inner designer in us all, a Dutch design team has come up with a “Color-In” dress. Intricate designs are left in black and white to ensure the wearer of full color creativity. White shapes and spirals are left for the wearer to decide which colors they would want to mix and match. Berber Soepboer and Michiel Schuurman collaborated to produce this new design idea, which comes in four sizes, is priced at $341 and comes with a set of fabric markers. Over-night super star Lady Gaga has become a fashion icon (good or bad) on top of her successful music career. In my opinion, the two go hand in hand. Talent is in excess all over the world; how do some people stand out and peak on Billboard’s top 100 List? Walking down the street, do you remember the lady in the black trench or the crazy person with horizontal rainbow striped leggings, a yellow shirt and red leather vest, crowned with a cowboy hat? Obviously, option two. Lady Gaga took this concept, ran with it and climbed her way to stardom.
Not everyone can embrace her personal style, and some have made a public issue of it. 29-year-old designer Mark Fast has even declined to let her wear his clothes, referring to her as “fast food fashion”. Comparing careers, I’d say Lady Gaga has the better idea. Lady Gaga, household name, Mark Fast, not so much.

ne of the rare opportunities to own one of the rarest and award-winning antiques would lure the lovers of aeronautical craftsmanship to Barrett-Jackson in Arizona later this month. Up for grabs is the most beautifully restored classic aircraft in the world – a 1929 Hamilton Metalplane H-47. With its reputation to soar over northern forests and remote lakes as part of a government mission to map and monitor the country’s uncharted backwoods for 20 years during the pioneering age of Canadian aviation, the aluminum-bodied bush plane is expected to sell for at least $1 million. The Metalplane goes on the auction block during a six-day Barrett-Jackson sale that begins Jan. 18 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
