The worlds of fashion and technology rarely mix, but when they do they can create something beautiful. This is certainly the case with the recent collaboration between Sony Ericsson and Dolce & Gabbana, a union that has resulted in a truly fashionista-worthy mobile phone.
This is the fashion house’s second foray into telephone design and follows on from their hugely popular gold Motorola RAZR. Their newest offering has been christened the “Jalou” phone, derived from the French word for jealousy, and it is certain to raise some envious glances.
Following a jewel-like theme, the phone’s design has been inspired by the multiple facets of cut gemstones. Normal versions of the telephone will be available in onyx black, aquamarine and amethyst, but any fashion follower worth their salt will be clamouring after the exclusive and much coveted D&G edition. This comes in Sparkling Rose, will be trimmed with 24-carat gold plating and even has its own special wireless headset.
Its features have the perfect mix of the latest technology and fashion, with a 2-inch display, a 3.2 megapixel camera that tags pictures with their geographic location, stereo Bluetooth and even a built-in mirror! All this is packed into a device that is said to be shorter than a lipstick. Looking good on-the-go has never been so easy.
The phone is expected to be released towards the end of the year, with the designer edition retailing exclusively in D&G stores and selected Sony Ericsson outlets.
