Since becoming the President of the CFDA board back in 2006, Diane Von Furstenberg has worked hard to bring new talent to the non-profit trade association and this week she admitted an outstanding 31 new designers, a number which exceeds the amount brought forward by any previous President.
Annually, the board recognizes the talent of America’s best designers by inaugurating them into the CFDA, and this new batch includes the likes of Alexander Wang, Jason Wu and Maria Pinto. Diane Von Furstenberg sees each member as her `extended family’ and is very ‘inclusive’ in her selection. A design duo who have also been admitted this year are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for their labels The Row (controlled more by Ashley) and Elizabeth and James (controlled more by May-Kate). For the successful siblings, this will be their highest achievement within the fashion industry.
