Legendary Japan fashion house Issey Miyake has teamed up with designer Ross Lovegrove famed for his design of the original Sony Walkman and Apple iMac to unveil their ‘Hu’ watch.
The watch’s characteristics include a design incorporating elements of contour and anatomy to fully integrate with the wearer; the special shape wraps around the wrist with an angled dial for easy visibility. The ‘Hu’ watch is made of titanium with a rubber strap and comes in gray, white, and black. The dial is very simple, showing just the hours and minutes with only two hour indicator points. The movement is Seiko quartz of course.
According to Lovegrove, the concept behind ‘Hu’s design is that the watch should look like an extension of your body- as though it was growing out of your wrist.
Issey Miyake’s ‘Hu’ was initially unveiled by Seiko Instruments Inc at Basel world 2009 and will be available in September 2009.
