The much anticipated opening of the Mardan Palace Hotel, dubbed Europe’s most expensive hotel took place this past Saturday, May 23.
It looks like owner Russian billionaire Telman Ismailov spared no expense when it came to the hotel’s construction, it is evaluated at $1.65 billion and the same philosophy applied to the opening party which brought together some 600 rich and famous people from around the world.
Guests feasted on 45kg Beluga Caviar from the Caspian Sea, 950 Atlantic lobsters and 5kg of Black diamonds – Italian black truffles as well as watched a laser light show and fireworks light up the hotel and the surrounding Taurus Mountains. They were also treated to performances from Mariah Carey, Seal and Tom Jones. Mr Ismailov himself compared the opening to the Olympic Games.
Located in Antalya, Turkey the Mardan Palace Hotel is Turkey’s first five-star Destination Resort; it comprises of 560 rooms, including two Royal Suites with private pools. The high-end resort also includes a 7500sqm Mardan Spa, 17 bars and 10 a la carte restaurants which includes French, Japanese, Russian, Thai and traditional Turkish.
In terms of entertainment there are five giant aquariums decorating the hotel’s restaurants, spa and a dramatic amphitheatre seating 900 that will host world-class entertainment
Rooms are priced at €14,000 ($20,000) a night in the high season.
